Joseph Robert Sparenberg, Sr. 78 of Rowlesburg died Sunday, July 4, 2021 at his home with family by his side.
He was born May 12, 1943, in Baltimore, Md, a son of the late John and Marie Carroll Sparenberg.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He had worked as a truck driver for Preston Sanitation, the City of Kingwood and the WV Department of Highways.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Guthrie Sparenberg; his son, Joseph R. Sparenberg, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Rowlesburg; his daughters, Mary Riley of Kingwood, Fay Weaver and husband, Richard of Howesville and Rita Hotz of Kempner, TX; four brothers, Jimmy, Andy, Tom and Tim Sparenberg; seven sisters, Dorothy Chase and husband, Garry, Veronica Bresnick and husband, George, Lydia Fortune, Isabelle Sparenberg, Mary Barton and husband, Ernie, Christina Windsor and Katherine Whelan; seven grandchildren, Matthew Sparenberg, Melanie, Megan and Mark Riley, Kathryn (KC), Joe and wife, Dakota and Welsey Hotz.
He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Helen Sparenberg his son, George Sparenberg, son-in-law, Joseph Hotz and two brothers, Charles and Jack.
Family and friends will gather at the Rowlesburg Ambulance Building on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 2 pm for a celebration of Joe’s life.
