James Alan Bulford, 70 of Rowlesburg, made the journey to his Heavenly home on Friday, March 15, 2019 with his loving family by his side at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, OH.
Born, February 26, 1949, the eldest son of the late James R. “Joe” and Emogean “Jean” Lee Bulford.
A loving Husband, Daddy and Paw Paw, James, “J.B.” or “Bub” to his siblings and many others, enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family. James was a member of the Rowlesburg Southern Baptist Church. He loved his church family and enjoyed reading the Bible and explaining its scripture to others. Always there to lend a hand, he never turned down the opportunity to help out a friend or family member in need. He was loved beyond measure and will be missed by many.
James attended Rowlesburg High School and graduated in 1969. Following graduation, He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Vietnam earning the rank of Lance Corporal and was honorably discharged in April, 1975. He was an incredibly proud Veteran. James was employed as a mechanic and welder for Preston Contractors in Kingwood, WV from where he retired in November, 2011.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Beverly Jean (Henline) Bulford, three daughters and spouses, Buffy Barlow (Chris), Heidi Sisler (Harry) and Krissie Hershman (John) five Grandchildren, Jett Chidester, Camden Barlow, Emilee Chidester, Trinity Hershman and Wyatt Hershman, seven siblings, Larry “Wink” Bulford (Rhonda), Sidna Wilson (Gary), Mike Bulford (Lois), Rebecca Poling (Howard), Penny Baker (Donnie), Robin Sigley (Art) and Terry Bulford and Sister-in-Law Penny Fullmer (Kevin), as well as several Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to his Parents, he was preceded in death by Father and Mother-in-Law, Lester “Buck” and Valeria “Joy” Henline.
Family will receive friends at Burke Funeral Home, in Rowlesburg on Monday March 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 10am to 11am the funeral hour with Pastor Ken Lake officiating. Interment will follow at Red Rock Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard and the Marine Corps funeral honors.
