Obituary

Junior Leroy Moats, 94, passed away Sunday February 27, 2022 at WV Caring in Elkins.

He was born November 17, 1927 in Morgantown, a son of the late Lee Roy and Ada Kisner Moats.

He was a loving father and provider, grandfather, and brother. He was a machine operator for Sander Sawmill, he loved gardening and reading.  

He is survived his son, Robert Moats of Rowlesburg; three daughters, Vonda Barto of Hartselle AL., Irene Simons of Tunnelton, Lucy Moats of Rowlesburg; 7 grandchildren. twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a sister, Geraldine Moats and several half-brothers.

He was also proceeded in death by his loving wife, Edith G. Moats, in 1999, a daughter, Darlene Moats, and a brother, Adrian Moats.

Family will receive friends at Burke Funeral Home in Rowlesburg, on Thursday, March 3, from 5pm – 8pm where services will be held on Friday March 4, 2022, at 1pm with Pastor Charles Stewart officiation. Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery. A Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Preston county Honor Guard and the WVANG Military Funeral Honors.
